Climate Zones Map for Australia

The Building Code of Australia (BCA) Energy Efficiency Project has been, and continues to be, undertaken by the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) in association with the Australian Greenhouse Office (AGO). The objective of the project is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from buildings through the development of nationally consistent, cost effective, energy efficiency provisions for the BCA.

The Deemed-to-Satisfy Provisions of the BCA energy efficiency provisions relate to a map which contain 8 climate zones.  The provisions proposed for each zone vary depending upon the severity of the climate.  The zones are based on climatic data, with some adjustment made for local government boundaries and other considerations.

Attached is a high clarity reproduction of the climate zones map referred to in the energy efficiency provisions. This version is made available so that BCA users may enlarge it to see how the map aligns with local government boundaries.

For further information, contact the Building Section of the City of Fremantle on 9432 9999 or check the Australian Building Codes Board’s website for more information on energy efficiency.
