Municipal Heritage Inventory (MHI) Review and Review of Hilton Residential Development Policy and Urban Design Guidelines

Municipal Heritage Inventory

The City has been consulting with the community on the Hilton Municipal Heritage Inventory (MHI). This involved six community workshops, and was overseen by the Hilton MHI Review Committee.

The report on the workshops and the recommendation of the Review Committee were considered by Council at its meeting on 27 October 2003. The Council resolved that:

  • Hilton Garden Suburb should be recognised as a unique precinct in the City of Fremantle’s Town Planning Scheme.
  • Individual houses (places) should only be included on the Municipal Heritage Inventory if they are assessed as being of heritage value in their own right, as contributing to the significance of the Hilton Precinct and if the owner consents to listing.
  • The ‘Hilton Residential Redevelopment Policy and Urban Design Guidelines’ should be reviewed.

The Council also resolved to notify all owners of the houses currently identified on the Municipal Heritage Inventory that their property will be removed unless they register interest in retaining them listed. All owners have been invited to consider the options of giving consent to listing or removing their property from MHI. All properties currently identified on MHI for Hilton whose owners will not submit a registration of interest in individual listing of their property, will be automatically removed from the Municipal Heritage Inventory.

You should have received a separate letter advising you about the process and conditions of listing and about conservation incentives which may apply to heritage places.

Registrations of interest are welcome
