Central Area Transit buses (CAT)

The Fremantle CAT service was introduced in August 2000 to improve public transport accessibility to and circulation within the Fremantle city centre and is a clear demonstration of the City’s commitment to sustainable transport.  Funding for the service has recently been extended to 2008 and will further reduce greenhouse gas emissions by providing an efficient and effective public transport system.  New bus stops have been installed along the CAT bus route and have been painted by local artists, incorporating key landscape themes within Fremantle.
