Tell tales at this year's Children's Fiesta… volunteers needed
18 Mar 2008
CAN you tell tales, spin a yarn or share a story? Volunteer storytellers are needed for the Fremantle Children's Fiesta at Samson Park on April 13.
Volunteers need to be available for at least one 30-minute session in the storytelling tepee, ready to entertain children aged two to eight.
Storytellers can register their interest by contacting Fremantle children’s librarian Linda Thorne on 9432 9771.
“Sharing stories in public with a group is a little different to reading to your own children and grandchildren but, with a bit of preparation and the right stories, anyone can do it,” Ms Thorne said.
“To help volunteers prepare for their storytelling appearances at the Children’s Fiesta, Fremantle City Library is conducting a story-sharing workshop on Saturday, March 29, at 2pm.”
Ms Thorne has been reading and telling stories to children for more than 20 years and will give tips on selecting books to read, along with stories to learn and share.
