Learn to impart Senior Smart: facilitators wanted
13 Jun 2008
A TRAINING workshop will be held at The Meeting Place in South Fremantle on June 26 for people wanting to become Senior Smart facilitators.
Regarded as a highly-effective and life-changing ageing and motivation program, Senior Smart is part of The Meeting Place’s adult education program and runs regularly throughout the year.
It was developed by Murdoch University associate professor Peter Dingle and PhD candidate Jason Fox, in response to a need for positive and holistic health promotion for older adults.
“This valuable course will empower you with the ability to facilitate a healthy ageing forum anywhere, anytime, whether it be over a cuppa with friends or at your town hall,” Mr Fox said.
“Seniors have moved beyond merely wishing to be healthier and they’re achieving goals they once thought impossible.”
As a Senior Smart facilitator, Mr Fox is now seeking people to attend a five-hour workshop so they can also present the program to others.
“The course covers all the aspects of the Senior Smart program from a facilitator’s perspective in a simple, down-to-earth way,” he said.
“There is a great deal of flexibility, allowing you to adapt the content to suit your style – all you need is a dash of enthusiasm that you’re willing to share.”
The free workshop is open to anyone over 55 and will be held from 9.30am to 2.30pm on June 26 at The Meeting Place, 245 South Terrace, South Fremantle. Lunch and refreshments provided; bookings on 9335 3394.
