Picking the pelican in the port city scores couple a Gold Coast holiday
27 Dec 2007
WINDOW shopping around the City of Fremantle over the Christmas period has scored an Ardross couple a $4000 dream holiday, thanks to their keen eye for detail.
Max and Muriel Sims got a surprise early present on Christmas Eve, after entering a competition to spot 10 pelicans featured in 40 shop windows around Fremantle during the festive season.
Selected from almost 200 entries, the couple plan to use their $4000 travel voucher to visit family on the Gold Coast.
The competition also allowed people to vote for the best Christmas shop window display in Fremantle and Moulitatas on Cantonment Street, renowned for its fab and funky bits and pieces, was deemed the winner, scoring the business $2000 worth of advertising.
“Both these competitions helped to give Fremantle even more of a Christmas vibe, engaging people in a fun and lively way, as they went about their shopping before the big day on December 25,” Fremantle Mayor Peter Tagliaferri said.
“We wanted to reward people who chose Fremantle as their shopping location of choice, as well as the businesses who really got into the spirit of things.”
