Have your say in building a better community
10 Feb 2010
THE City of Fremantle is calling for Expressions of Interest from those wishing to participate in a precinct working group with the aim of enhancing community engagement in the City’s operations and decisions.
After the results of both an on-line survey and the findings of six focus groups conducted late last year, the City is currently reviewing its decade-old precinct system which, up until this time, has been the primary method of consulting with the community.
Issues to be addressed by precinct working group members include:
- clarifying the purpose and role of the precinct system within the City’s operations;
- clarification of the administration and operation of the system, and;
- finding ways for the precinct system to become more representative of the community.
Expressions of Interest are called from precinct members (four to six people) and community members (one to two people) who are interested in engaging with four Council staff and a councillor representative to develop an action plan that improves the precinct system. These improvements will sit within the identified key themes of:
- purpose and role;
- operations and communications and;
- community representation.
The working group will develop a draft action plan to improve the system that will be presented for consideration by the City’s senior management group.
Commitment is for a six- to eight-week period starting at the end of this month.

Submit your Expression of Interest to the City by close of business Wednesday, February 17. Members will receive an invitation to participate by Friday, February 19, with the first on Thursday, February 25.
