The City of Fremantle’s Environmental Health Officers have recently received notification of a proactive and useful guide available to those people and families who have allergic reactions to various foods with common known allergens.
Allergen information cards have been produced and are available to help protect the 1-2 per cent of all Australians, and particularly the 3-5 per cent of children who have food allergies.
The allergen cards for egg, soy, wheat, peanuts, sesame, tree nuts, fish, shellfish and milk were developed by Anaphylaxis Australia with funding from Food Standards Australia New Zealand and the NSW Food Authority.
Allergen information cards can be ordered from Anaphylaxis Australia at: coordinator@allergyfacts.org.au
Or e-mail Food Standards Australia New Zealand at (request “Food Allergy” in header): info@foodstandards.gov.au
And electronic versions can be read or printed from: http://www.foodstandards.gov.au/newsroom/publications/allergencards.cfm
