Wanslea Family Services to take on City of Fremantle childcare

15 May 2008
THE City of Fremantle has chosen to work with Wanslea Family Services, transferring childcare services previously provided by council, following an expression of interest process.

City of Fremantle Acting Manager Community Services Jan Bayman said Wanslea has been assisting WA families for more than 60 years and currently provides childcare support to more than 1000 families.

“The city is pleased to partner with an organisation that mirrors its own commitment to families and children and is confident community-based childcare in Fremantle has a strong future,” she said.

The transfer of services, beginning July 1, includes:
• Quarry Street Long Day Care 0-6 years.
• Beaconsfield Out-of-School Hours Care.
• Weybridge Out-of-School Hours Care.
• Weybridge Vacation Care.

“The Samson Out-of-School Hours Care and Vacation Care programs that were recently closed have also been included in this transfer, although a date for their recommencement has not yet been scheduled,” Ms Bayman said.
