Open your heart with art: take a creative journey to The Meeting Place

15 Oct 2007
THE Meeting Place in South Fremantle is hosting special art therapy workshops from the end of October, helping people use creative expression for personal insight, understanding and healing.

Professionally-trained art therapist Tim Mangano wants to bring more people to creative expression to show them its healing benefits.

“Creating art is a way of journeying into the self and discovering the wisdom that lies there,” he said.

“It’s a way of allowing our intuition to speak to us and deeper ways of knowing to emerge. And it’s also fun!

“These workshops give people space to re-connect with their playful, creative self to see what happens.”

Promoting free, open expression, Mr Mangano facilitates and supports people through the art therapy experience.

“A common misconception is that I will interpret or judge people’s art,” Mr Mangano said. “But that’s not what it’s all about.

“It’s about people expressing themselves and seeing where creative impulses take them, making discoveries and developing greater awareness as you create.

“I’m there to facilitate a supportive and safe space and then, at the end, to promote discussion and sharing within the group. Most people are surprised by what they discover.”

The introductory workshops will be held from 3pm to 5pm, October 27, November 17 and December 8, at The Meeting Place, 245 South Terrace, South Fremantle.

The workshops are $20 or $12 concession ($15 for Meeting Place members, $8 concession). For bookings, call 9335 3394.
