Long Term Accommodation

Support for young people (21 and under) and Young Families (25 and under) to access public housing. Support is offered for up to 9 months and after this time if the young person has successfully completed their temporary tenancies they may retain the lease on the accommodation. The service has guaranteed access to 16 units on a rolling stock basis.

Medium Term Accommodation

Support for young people (21 and under) and young families (25 and under) in properties managed by the service itself. Tenancy is for 6 - 12 months. Young people participating in this program are then assisted to move to independent accommodation.

The service has title or lease hold on 11 properties provided through the Commonwealth/State Housing agreement Crisis Accommodation Program. Both the Long Term and Medium Term Accommodation operating funds are provided for through the Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP) involving a joint Commonwealth State Agreement. The City of Fremantle contributes significantly to this project.

Outreach

The Outreach program provides support, advocacy and information for young people who are experiencing difficulties and who may be identified as at risk. Fortnightly street work with two Outreach workers is carried out in the Fremantle CBD and surrounds to engage and improve the opportunities for Street Present young people.

Those who are identified as being at risk are provided with additional follow-up and support and are encouraged to make contact with appropriate services.
The service has considerable contact with other service providers such as DCP and the Fremantle Police and aims to assist young people to get the best outcome in a holistic manner.

Parent Support Program

Offers support and activities for young parents aged 25 years and under and their children to increase their knowledge, skills and social support networks. Activities offered may include first aid courses, massage, arts/crafts, financial counseling and much more. The group meets fortnightly on Thursdays.

Practical Assistance is offered during the "Drop-In" service which includes:

Youth Adventure Holiday Program

Fremantle Youth Service runs a holiday program each school holidays for young people ages 12-16. For more information or to be added to our mailing list please contact 9432 9948.
