Tutoring at TMP
The Meeting Place engages with community members who wish to provide learning opportunities to the Fremantle community. We are constantly reviewing our programs and activities to ensure it is consistent with Community needs and requests and fits in with the City of Fremantle’s Strategic Plan 2005-2010 and the City’s Community Development Directorate.
Applications can be made to run a course with The Meeting Place Adult Education Program on a term by term basis only. Applications are due in by set dates that must be adhered to for printing purposes. Deadlines for the following term are usually three weeks into the previous term (check with centre staff).
- All aspects of your course, hours and pay rates are to be negotiated with the Program Officers.
- Tutors are required to fill out all forms and agreements before their courses start.
- If applications are successful you will be notified by TMP Programming Officers.
- If applications are unsuccessful you will be notified in writing.
- Courses will be cancelled if they do not reach the required minimum number.
- Courses will be chosen according to community needs and the discretion of the Programming Officers.
Tutor Orientation
All new tutors who teach more than 6 hours per year at TMP are required to attend a brief orientation
session prior to the commencement of term. The orientation session will cover City of Fremantle and TMP policies and procedures, support services, Health and Safety and Codes of Conduct. Two forms, ‘Guidelines for Confidentiality’ and ‘Tutor Induction Checklist’ will need to be signed and collected and the end of this session. After the formalities have ceased there will be a morning tea where tutors will have the opportunity to meet other tutors informally together before the new term begins.
