OVER 55’S
SMS is an active Ageing Project funded by The City of Fremantle and the Department of Local Government, to give people over 55 years of age the opportunity to become involved in a range of activities, courses and seminars.
The City of Fremantle is committed to increasing the satisfaction of ageing for older people as a result of the Public Perceptions Survey and the Policy and Strategy for positive ageing funds. Over the next twelve months The Meeting Place will offer physical activities, lifelong learning, education and art programmes for older people.
Each term will consist of five seminars on topics of interest to ageing and older people and five seven-week courses ranging from computer to Yoga. All will be low cost and have transport options available for those experiencing difficulty. Each term a Grand Picnic Day for Grand parents and grand children is held to celebrate and value the role grandparents play in the lives of their grandchildren.
