J.S. Battye's book, Western Australia: a history from its discovery to the inauguration of the Commonwealth, written in 1924 is now available as a free e-book through Project Gutenberg.

Katijin, a guide to indigenous records in the Battye Library is now available.

The next issue of Studies in Western Australian History, from the UWA Press is A Convict Legacy, no. 24, edited by Anne Brake and Jacqui Sheriff. This volume is based on a collection of seminar papers.

About the Local History Collection

The Local History Collection provides information about Fremantle and neighbouring suburbs in Fremantle and East Fremantle local government area.

Books, pamphlets, brochures, local newspapers, reports, photos, maps and oral histories are all available. Access is available to published and unpublished documents and other original material, including biographical and building history files. They are not for loan but can all be used in the library.
