Statement of Purpose

Fremantle Community Legal Centre's purpose is to provide a service location where disadvantaged people, who live within the geographical region determined by the funding bodies, can come for information, legal advice, some representation and assistance

Philosophy

Fremantle Community Legal Centre believes in:

  • The social justice principles of access, equity, participation and support aimed at redressing structural inequality.
  • The dignity of the individual and the right to physical, cultural, social, emotional, economic and intellectual development
  • High professional standards and co-operative work practices
  • Quality service and customer focus
  • The right of people to obtain access to free legal and paralegal services

Outcomes

The outcomes pursued by Fremantle Community Legal Centre are:

  • To provide and deliver efficient and effective legal and paralegal services to the client group
  • To provide and deliver community education on legal issues to the client group
  • To continue to plan strategically to ensure an appropriate range of services to meet the needs of the consumers
  • To operate in an efficient, effective and accountable manner
  • To promote law/policy reforms identified as giving effect to the beliefs of Fremantle Community Legal Centre's philosophy
  • To promote law/policy review and reform
