Assets and Infrastructure
Assets and Infrastructure provides a Management Service for:
- Streets
- Parks and Reserves
- Buildings and Structures
This Unit provides for the coordination and facilitation of the improvement and maintenance of the City's road, stormwater drainage, and footpath networks; the parks, reserves and coastal assets; and the building and other infrastructure assets.
Parks Operations
The Parks Operations Unit undertakes all necessary work to ensure that the City's Parks and Reserves are maintained in a safe and tidy manner for the enjoyment of the community. Works which are carried out include mowing, tree pruning, tree planing, reticulation maintenance, and play ground equipment inspections.

City Works is the internal 'contractor' which undertakes the bulk of the City's construction and maintenance works including:
Commercial Waste
Council provides a Commercial Waste Collection and Disposal service. The service is supplied upon request and a fee for service is involved.
The Commercial Waste service also undertakes street litter collections and special event collections.
Domestic Waste
Council provides a rubbish collection service for households. Domestic Waste includes the weekly rubbish collection, bulk waste collections, green waste collections and domestic recycling service.
City Cleaning
City Cleaning provides the community with street cleaning services within the Central Business District. This includes footpath sweeping and steam cleaning, gutterline sweeping and cleaning of street litter bins.
Construction
This unit is responsible for all aspects of roadwork and footpath works for the City. This includes the construction and reconstruction of roads, drains, and footpaths.
Streetworks
Streetworks is responsible for municipal maintenance works and inspection services. The unit undertakes the maintenance, repair and reinstatement of roads, footpaths, stormwater drainage and street verges.
Mechanical Services
Mechanical Services undertakes the servicing of:
- Light plant and repairs
- Light vehicles
- Heavy plant/vehicles.
The Unit also undertakes:
- Welding
- Quoting for new projects
- Managing the fuel supply at the City Works Depot
- Developing plant replacement programs to meet Road Traffic Authority Standards.
- Driver assessment
- Vehicle insurance
- Allocation of vehicles
Depot Administration
Depot Administration provides administrative and additional support to the other Business Units within the Depot. The range of services provided includes record keeping, stores maintenance and issues, depot maintenance, management of the community recycling facility, community enquiry/complaints handling, and provision of reports.
