The City of Fremantle is divided into six wards. Two Councillors represent each Ward and the Mayor represents the combined electorate. Find out who your Councillors are and the community issues they are passionate about.
Decisions of Council are made at full Council meetings and Standing Committee meetings. The Committee meetings deal with specific Council issues.
Fremantle City Council has 13 Elected Members comprising of 12 Councillors and the Mayor. The City of Fremantle is divided into six wards; North, South, East, City, Hilton, and Beaconsfield.
Two Councillors are elected for each ward, with the Mayor elected by the combined electorate of all wards. The Mayor and Councillors have been elected for four year terms.
The Council acts as a community board, establishing policies and making decisions within the rules of the Local Government Act on a wide range of issues affecting the community. Elected Members and the Mayor represent community interests at both Committee and Council meetings.
